TruCensus Privacy Policy

TruCensus ("the app") is made by Pure Chaos Graphix LLC, a Louisiana limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy covers the TruCensus mobile app for iOS and Android (bundle ID com.purechaosgraphix.trucensus) and the trucensus.com website.

The short version

TruCensus works offline. Everything you create in the app stays on your device. We do not collect, receive, sell or share your personal data. The app has no user accounts, no cloud sync, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting.

What the app stores on your device

  • Photos and videos you take or pick. These include shelf and room photos, item photos and video walkthroughs. Photos are downscaled and saved in the app's local storage. Videos are saved in the app's local database on your device.
  • Inventory records. These include item names, categories, custom fields, rooms and facilities, QR asset tags, barcodes, serial numbers, check-in and check-out history, scan results, warranty and maintenance dates, and notes.
  • Demo user selection. Version 1 has a demo sign-in picker with no email or password. The app does not collect your email address or any other account details.

None of this data is sent to us or to anyone else.

On-device AI and scanning

Item detection (counting items in a photo or video), QR and barcode reading, and label text reading (OCR) all run on your device. The models and language files ship inside the app. Your images are never uploaded to an AI service or any other server.

Permissions

  • Camera: used to take photos, scan QR codes, barcodes and labels, and record video walkthroughs. It is used only when you choose to capture something.
  • Notifications: used for warranty and maintenance reminders that are scheduled on your device. On Android, the app also restores your reminders after the device restarts.
  • Face ID / fingerprint (optional): used for app unlock. Your device handles this check, and the app never receives your biometric data.
  • Internet: included by default by the app framework. Version 1 does not send your data over the network.

The app does not use your location. "Location" in TruCensus means a room or facility that you type in yourself.

Sharing and exports

When you export a report to Excel or PDF, the app creates the file on your device. You decide whether to share it, and where it goes, through your device's share sheet. After that, the file is handled under the privacy policy of whatever app or service you send it to.

Data retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. In version 1, you can delete all TruCensus data in either of these ways:

  • uninstall the app, or
  • clear the app's data in your device settings (Android: Settings > Apps > TruCensus > Storage > Clear data).

Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. If you have questions, email leo@purechaosgraphix.com.

Children

TruCensus is a business tool for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Future changes

A future version may add optional accounts and cloud sync. If that happens, we will update this policy before the feature ships and describe exactly what data is collected, where it is stored and how you can delete it, including in-app account deletion.

Website

The trucensus.com website is hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace may log standard visitor information and use cookies under its own privacy policy. We do not run our own analytics or advertising on the site.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because we do not collect personal data through the app, we usually have none to provide. You can still contact us at any time.
